Wren Won’t Give In. No Peavy

Unless the Padres all of a sudden cave in and lower their asking price, we won’t see Peavy make his way to Atlanta any time soon…. or presumably ever.
Here’s what Wren the man himself said.

Edgy Braves Blogger Is Sick of Waiting on Peavy

Good day Braves fans. I’m JB and I’ve got the mid-November, no baseball, waiting-on-something-to-happen blues getting me down in Atlanta.

Why Jurrjens Didn’t Win the ROY

Just in case you were interested the Hawks and Falcons are having far better 2008’s than the Braves did by far. And you’d better hope we don’t get rid of this prospect any time soon. Wren said he won’t trade him but now Hanson’s got my attention.

Braves Still in the Hunt for Pitching

First off I have to say, the Yellow Jackets have sent me on a roller coaster. I’ve gone from ecstasy and hopefulness a week ago to downright depression and anger today.

Winning Post from our Winner

Another “thanks” goes out to Kevin from Ramblings 1.5 for his contributions throughout the postseason. I never intended to have so much dedicated space to the Phillies on this Braves blog but he stepped up when I put out the request to get bloggers from each playoff contender to post for The Launching Pad. And since his team went on win the World Series, he got to post quite a bit. Sadly we never got a Rays blogger to help out.

It’s Just So Beautiful

It is the offseason and now that the World Series is officially over I can enjoy our fall sports. Today gave me a lot to smile about. My Yellow Jackets defeated FSU. Something I haven’t seen in my life time. And “Them Dawgs”… well how ’bout ‘em? A butt whippin’ I’d say. I guess that #1 ranking to start the year was a bunch of hype.

Renteria’s Option Declined

There was Marcus Giles, getting cut from the Colorado Rockies before 2008 began.

Javy tried to make a comeback and instead we went with Abraham Miller. I don’t even want to talk about this decision. Now he’s in the unemployment line.

Our Loss is Your Gain

It’s Friday. It’s a day off of baseball but it’s World Series week.

This Braves blog asks the question: Am I the only Braves fan out there that’s a little ticked off about seeing Willy Aybar in the World Series?

Phillies Come to the Trop Tonight for Game One

Well, the Phillies are still in it and “Phightin’” for a World Series Championship. They’ll have to get through the upstart Rays who just knocked off a tough Boston club. That also means our guest bloggers from Ramblings 1.5 is still with us since his team is still in it. Here’s what he has to say about his team in the Fall Classic that gets started tonight in Tampa Bat at 8:00pm. One last note before we get to Kevin, if you haven’t entered our contest yet… it’s not to late! Make your picks and leave your comments now!

For the first time in fifteen years the Phillies will play in a World
Series game.  For the second straight year the Phillies won the
National League East division.  It remains to be seen if for the third
year in a row the Phillies are the home team of the National League
MVP.  What does this mean when matching up with the Tampa Bay Rays?  Of
course, it means nothing.

Peavy to the Braves Looking Like a Certainty

The rumors have been abounding about Jake Peavy and the Braves this week. And the Braves are proudly being aggressive enough to go after a pitcher that’s making even the Yankees drool.

Thanks for Sharing

The end of the Boston Red Sox 2008 campaign came last night at Tropicana Field in Tampa.  The losing score was 3 - 1 at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays, a team attempting to accomplish a worst to first transformation in a single season, trying to match the ‘91 Minnesota Twins by becoming World Series champs after finishing in last place the season before.

Two Ryan Howards

You can’t argue that Ryan Howard of the Phillies will garnish MVP talk again. Despite a .251 avg and almost 200 K’s for 2008 he knocked 48 HR’s, 146 RBI’s and led his team to a second divisional title in two years. He hasn’t made much impact in 2008’s playoffs…yet. But the way the Phils are playing, there could be more baseball for Howard and Co.

Beckett Rattled by Rays

C/O Joe @ BaseballismsGame Two of the American League Championship Series was a back and forth battle of dreadful performances by two top of the rotation starters, Josh Beckett of the Boston Red Sox and Scott Kazmir of the Tampa Bay Rays.  In the end, the Rays prevailed 9 - 8  in eleven innings on [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Who Are These Guys?

C/O Joe @ Baseballisms The American League Championship Series opens tonight at Tropicana Field in Tampa Florida between the reigning World Champion Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays. Huh? Are the Red Sox the Next Evil Empire?

Don’t kill me, Red Sox Nation… Hear me out. I was scrolling through the Braves message boards the other day and noticed a sentiment that is making small yet noticeable waves amongst the Atlanta denizens. Seems there is some loss of love for our American League counterparts among Braves fans. That’s odd. You see, we in Atlanta [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Phillies Grab Game One with a Pair of Dingers

C/O of Kevin @ Ramblings 1.5 What a way to kick start the National League Championship Series!  Citizens Bank Park was rocking to start things off last night with the terrific fanfare before the game, the “Beat LA” cheers before the first pitch and Phillies fans waving those white towels in a frenzy!
