Game 139

Ladies and gentlemen, the impossible has happened. The Atlanta Braves…have won a game. Not only did they win, but they won after giving up the lead three separate times. The game should’ve been a blowout, but it ended up being quite close. Talk about a roller coaster of a game.

Game 138

Never in my life (or at least, what I can recall) have I seen the Braves perform so poorly. On a 4-game losing streak, again, coming off a sweep from the worst team in the Major Leagues, and still not seeming like the Braves that I grew up with. What’s even more depressing, however, is how this team continues to lose one-run games on the road. I can’t even comprehend how this streak has lasted so long.

Game 137

Okay, so this team has seen better days. The Braves lost the series against the Nationals (read: the worst team in the Major Leagues [debatable]) on Sunday afternoon. Not only did they lose, but they got swept. It’s games like these that make me question why the drinking age is 21.

Game 136

There seems to be one constant in this universe. No, it’s not the sun, time, other stars, or even black holes. It’s the Braves losing one-run games on the road. I can’t even begin to fathom how they’ve lost this many in a row, not winning one since last season, but I think it’s getting past the point of coincidence and towards the reality of absurdity. A walk-off win from the Nationals just further confused me about this team, especially when they looked like they were going to make a run at a come-from-behind win. Instead, they lost their second game this season by walking in the winning run.

Game 135

There’s nothing quite like watching your favorite team play against the worst team in baseball and get their brains beat in. The Braves opened the series against the Nationals on Friday night in disappointing fashion, putting their season record against them at 4-8.

Game 134

Thursday night’s rubber match against the Marlins provided some hope for this team, in that it showed that they haven’t completely given up. Marking their first series win in about 3 weeks, this was one game that this Braves fan didn’t mind watching.

MLB to Implement Instant Replay Today

With the announcement last week that Major League Baseball and the umpires agreed on implementing an ‘Instant Replay’ system for questionable home run calls in every ballpark, more information has surfaced about when this system will start being used. Today is that day, according to ESPN, and it is generating mixed feelings. The reason for choosing this particular Thursday is so that it will not disrupt any series currently being played. Why they’re starting it at the end of the season, however, is a bit more confusing, and adds to the somewhat amount of controversy about it.

Game 131

What else can be said about this team? They just don’t seem to care anymore and appear to just be going through the motions. I can not ever remember seeing the Braves doing this.

Game 130

We are behind on these recaps, but not down. The middle game of the series against the Cardinals was a blessing, because it was the first win this team has seen in too long.

Game 129

There’s losing, and then there’s losing. Friday night’s opener against the Cardinals was definitely the latter. The Braves got absolutely pummeled, losing by their largest margin of the season, and suffering their sixth loss in a row. Change needs to happen, now, or football season needs to start very soon.

Game 126

Once again the starter gives us a good outing, once again the pen lets us down (is this starting to sound like a broken record?). I really hope something is done to address this problem (along with the hitting, and the pitching coach, and the injuries)… We thought we had but the injuries just crushed our pen.

Game 125

Sometimes it’s hard to understand this team. On Monday afternoon, a game in which had the dumbest start time, the Braves got their asses handed to them by the pitcher who has the most losses in the Major League, Barry Zito. This second loss in a row to a team with a worse record was a fitting end to wrap up the homestand, which had the lackluster record of 1 -7.

Game 124

Luckily [?], I had to miss most of this game to stain a fence. The good news is the fence looks great and it was such a pleasant evening tonight. The bad news is that it wasn’t such a pleasant day for the Braves. For whatever reason, this team consistently gets beaten up by the seemingly inferior Giants. Tim Lincecum put the hurt on Atlanta, again, and recorded his 13th win of the season.

Game 123

When it rains, it pours. That seems to be how this season has been going for the Braves. Either they beat the shit out of the other team, or they get their heads kicked in. Fortunately, Saturday night’s game against the Giants was the former, and it allowed them to snap their 5 game losing streak.

Game 122

Sorry for the delay, but sometimes real life doesn’t allow me to write these posts in as timely a manner as I’d like. With that being said, the Braves kicked off their series against the Giants, a team that is more than 15 games under .500, on Friday night in disappointing fashion. It also marked their fifth consecutive loss.

Game 121

If you’re reading this, you probably already know that the Braves got beaten again, badly, in the season finale against the Cubs. But, you know what? It doesn’t even really matter. As a fan, I’m going to keep watching this team until the end of the season. But realistically, this game ended what little hope I had for this team of making the postseason. It sucks, but maybe once this team realizes it has no chance, they’ll start playing for shits and giggles, and maybe they’ll actually win a few ballgames. Right now, they seem like they’re trying too hard. There’s been a ton of stupid errors (e.g. Kotsay letting the ball drop in center today, McCann’s throw to center field yesterday), everybody seems like they’re playing angry. I mean, Escobar almost charged the mound after getting hit by Lilly today. Bueno threw at Soriano’s head yesterday. What the hell is going on?

Game 118

Sunday’s season finale against the D’backs was a game in which the Braves sought their first series sweep, where they were on the broom handle end, since May. Unfortunately, they had to face then-16 game winner, Brandon Webb, and their plans were spoiled a bit.

Game 117

Wins are nice. They’re especially nice when a solid effort is put out by both the offense and defense. Saturday night’s game was a perfect example of this, and increased the Braves’ win streak to three games.
