Glavine Back in the Saddle Again…

…but the sunset ride has been a disappointing one.  ~JB, Kennesaw, GA When Glavine left the Braves at the conclusion of 2002, I was furious. Not only had he defected but he had pulled a stunt that was in my mind only equaled in treachery by Roger Clemens signing on with the hated Yankees after all those [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Morton and Cox Exit Early in Cub Pummeling

~JB, Pike Place roast coffee, Hating day/night double headers, Make it 142. Charlie Morton didn’t stick around that long either. After giving up a sizeable 4 run lead to the Cubs who are looking to seal their Central division pennant sooner rather than later, the Braves never even got into this one. 10-2 is the [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Trade Frenchy?

~JB, at the Cool Beans, Enduring the Dog Days Before you accuse me of blaspheming the Braves beloved… hear me out.  We all know Jeff has had a miserable year. And not only has it been forgettable but the worst of his short career and filled with bewildering drama to boot. Now let me say this to [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Braves Fans Remain Faithful in the Midst of a Tough Season

~JB, Kenya Coffee, Braves fans make me happy, Remembering Skip  Brandon Webb’s next Cy Young campaign is going well as he dominates the Braves yesterday afternoon and gets his league leading 17th win. And the DBacks didn’t let the Braves’ near sweep discourage them into rolling over and dying. They picked up Adam Dunn this afternoon [...] Read the rest of this entry »

McCann is a One Man Wrecking Crew

~JB, Ethiopian Coffee, Sunday morning bummin’, a bagel for my breakfast The Braves (55-62) are on the brink of a 4 game sweep of the Diamondbacks if they can beat Brandon Webb (16-4). Hampton goes to the hill after completing a very good 7 inning win in San Francisco earlier in the week and the Braves [...] Read the rest of this entry »

How To Make The Best of a Throwaway Season

~JB, just drank a lot of coffee today… a lot.  All in one game, Charlie Morton pitches 7 scoreless innings, gets his first big league hit/double, gets picked off shortly after that, and even gets caught stealing (cue the Jane’s Addiction music). So maybe Morton has promise after all. But he’s still only 3-7 and may [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Keep Dreamin’, JB

Braves lost again. On the road in a one run game and thus, lost another series.

Surprisingly, Chuck James only gave up three runs. Of course he gave up his mandatory homer to Aaron Rowand but the Braves couldn’t come up with a series win even against the second to last place Giants.

Ever Feel Like You Owe Someone an Apology?

Chip Caray sure likes to think we bloggers owe Mike Hampton a great big “I’m sorry” for the way we’ve trashed him over his sundry list of ailments for the last three seasons.

Braves Lose in More Ways Than One

~JB being JB

As if a sad season couldn’t get sadder…

As you well know by now we had to say goodbye to the voice of the Braves. This news comes along with a complete smattering of bad news that has been piled high and buried us deep.

In Memory of Skip

I’ll be posting a more fitting tribute later today but I’d like it if you’d leave your favorite Skip Caray moment in the comments.  Whether it was a game he called, something he said, or your favorite “Skip-ism”, please leave your memory so we can celebrate the life of a man who was every bit a [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Headin’ to the Ted

~JB, Just Don’t Lose TOO Badly It’s hard not to hang your head when the Braves come up in conversation. Endanger of being swept for the second time in a week at home is just tragic.  Royce Ring finally got designated along with Corky Miller making room for Sammons who has all but topped Miller’s season hitting [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Chuck James Starting? Man It Is Bad

JB in Blue Ridge Chuck James started and charecteristically gave up two homers. One each to Prince Fielder and Mike Cameron. Do we ever need starting pitching for 2009 or what? Not as though my expectations weren’t low enough when the game started but stil…a 9-0 loss… So the fight for the Central continues as the Brewers take [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Bring Back That Lovin’ Feelin’

~JB, This blog runs on Brazilian Coffee In case you haven’t heard yet for some reason, Ken Griffey is now a White Sox ck and the Marlins picked up lefty reliever Arthur Rhodes and were even talking Manny for a little while with the Red Sox. At a game and a half out, the Marlins are not [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Ohman Channels Caray

In all likelihood, Will Ohman will be traded before the sun comes up on Friday morning. We’ll miss those Harry Caray lineups and fake mustaches.       If you have any rumors or players your hoping for us to pick up please leave them in comments. We’ll let you know what we hear as the countdown finishes up for the [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Eastbound and Down

~JB, sugar free wings, looking to a brighter future I’m feeling good today. Yes my Braves lost… again. But I feel like we made a good move yesterday evening before the game started. And there may be more moves to come. As I’ve put my fingers on the pulse of the Braves’ blogosphere, the consensus I’ve [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Tex’s Ride Off Into the Sunset

~JB, Kenya coffee, wiping away the tears and moving on In case the two hugely disappointing losses in Philadelphia over the weekend weren’t enough to shatter your dreams, the Cardinals made sure the Braves’ postseason hopes were thoroughly destroyed.  But it keeps getting worse.  Huddy joined Chipper on the DL making him the fourth of our five Opening [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Adding Insult to Injury and Injury

~JB, Sulawesi coffee @ Cool Beans, counting down to the deadline. Dan Gladden Darin Erstad And now Shane Victorino. Welcome to the world of hate. When plays like yesterday’s occur, the first question that usually comes up is, “was it dirty”? Meaning, was Victorino intentionally trying to cause permanent damage to McCann when he slammed into him at the [...] Read the rest of this entry »

A Man Of Constant Sorrow

~JB, Gazebo coffee from Starbucks to fight off the suicidal tendencies. What was I thinking? I watched the Braves accumulate a 9-3 lead after an offensive revival of epic proportions. For the third game in a row our anemic bats were looking very much alive. After an inning that made me feel good to be a Braves [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Yes a Win in Philly is Nice

But there’s a long way to go and a lot of “what if’s” and “maybe’s” will have to happen in order for the Braves season to officially turn around.  But let me ask you this, Braves fan… How does last night make you feel?  A) More bewildered by the Jeckyl and Hyde Braves of 2008? B) Slightly positive for [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Mike Hampton/Jeff Bennett to Start This Afternoon

~JB, enjoying a Philly pounding last night, still coffeeless Just before I start. Chip, I don’t hate Mike Hampton. I don’t think he’s a bum. I don’t blog just so I can rip him apart every time I’m alerted to yet another one of his startling and bewildering injuries. Now I’ve had some fun at Mike Hampton’s [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Breaking Up is Hard To Do

OR… “The Long Kiss Goodnight” ~JB, lovin’ Friday, bracing for the weekend series This weekend in Philly will make or break the Braves’ season. As Rod Tidwell would say, “You’re hanging on by a very thin thread.” …but I don’t really dig it. So if the Braves are swept (yet again) by the Phillies that would pretty much mean [...] Read the rest of this entry »
