The borders of the L.A. metropolitan area are indistinct and at times reach into several adjoining states and the sovereign nation of Mexico. This explains why the city’s other baseball team is in Anaheim and its football teams are in Oakland and St. Louis.

Entering the ROAD TRIP OF DEATH game thread: June 3, Braves at Dodgers

It begins, of course, with yesterday’s flight to LA, which is still going on. As you know if you’ve ever flown from Atlanta to California, the flight can take several years. The in-flight movie is Berlin Alexanderplatz. Pilots have been known to hijack their own planes and divert them to anywhere else just to get a chance to land. Roving gangs of coach passengers hunt flight attendants to ward off starvation. Homer’s Odyssey was originally based upon a single one-way trip from Atlanta to San Diego.
