There was Marcus Giles, getting cut from the Colorado Rockies before 2008 began.
Javy tried to make a comeback and instead we went with Abraham Miller. I don’t even want to talk about this decision. Now he’s in the unemployment line.

I would just like to say that I started writing this article about two weeks ago, I didn’t want to rush finishing it just to get it posted. I also had other things to worry about than to work on this article, but I finally found time to finish it between working on schoolwork. Also, this article was started before all of the Jake Peavy rumors surfaced, so this article does not mention any of that at all.

There’s a (somewhat) newly written article that was posted on the Braves official site a few weeks ago about Prado possibly becoming an everyday player, with other people, such as Chipper Jones, backing the idea as well. I believe that Prado could possibly be a useful player if he played more, but I’m not sure that he would be as valuable as he currently is if he did play at one position on an everyday basis. While I do favor KJ over Prado, this perception of mine isn’t based on favoritism. This is just my opinion, do with it what you will. Below I will review each of the players’ positives and negatives and compare the two of them with each other.
It’s Friday. It’s a day off of baseball but it’s World Series week.
This Braves blog asks the question: Am I the only Braves fan out there that’s a little ticked off about seeing Willy Aybar in the World Series?

Well, the Phillies are still in it and “Phightin’” for a World Series Championship. They’ll have to get through the upstart Rays who just knocked off a tough Boston club. That also means our guest bloggers from Ramblings 1.5 is still with us since his team is still in it. Here’s what he has to say about his team in the Fall Classic that gets started tonight in Tampa Bat at 8:00pm. One last note before we get to Kevin, if you haven’t entered our contest yet… it’s not to late! Make your picks and leave your comments now!

For the first time in fifteen years the Phillies will play in a World
Series game. For the second straight year the Phillies won the
National League East division. It remains to be seen if for the third
year in a row the Phillies are the home team of the National League
MVP. What does this mean when matching up with the Tampa Bay Rays? Of
course, it means nothing.
Somewhere in the early hours of Thursday morning, October 23rd, the host will be upgrading its servers for about an hour at a time. This means that Catcher’s Blog and anything associated with it will not be accessible during that time. I’m not sure exactly when the site will be down, but the e-mail I received said between the hours of 12 am to 6 am of Thursday, the 23rd. This probably won’t effect many visitors, but in case you might happen to try to access the site during those hours on the 23rd and the site is down, then that is why. This is just a heads up for everyone. Everything should be back to normal after the upgrading process is completed.

The end of the Boston Red Sox 2008 campaign came last night at Tropicana Field in Tampa. The losing score was 3 - 1 at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays, a team attempting to accomplish a worst to first transformation in a single season, trying to match the ‘91 Minnesota Twins by becoming World Series champs after finishing in last place the season before.
Read the rest of this entry »I’ve been following the Jake Peavy rumors all week since they broke and I haven’t really posted anything about them on here. The main reason is because right now they’re just speculation and who knows what might happen with this situation. Everyone is saying that the Braves are indeed the front runners in this, but who knows what other teams have to offer? I’m sure there will be plenty more of this topic mentioned within the coming weeks, as the trade could be completed with the right offer most anytime now, or so the rumors say.

Read the rest of this entry »You can’t argue that Ryan Howard of the Phillies will garnish MVP talk again. Despite a .251 avg and almost 200 K’s for 2008 he knocked 48 HR’s, 146 RBI’s and led his team to a second divisional title in two years. He hasn’t made much impact in 2008’s playoffs…yet. But the way the Phils are playing, there could be more baseball for Howard and Co.
