Braves Sweep, Head to Shea One Last Time

So I missed the recap to post on Friday after Thursday night’s game but here’s the deal… I was busy. Sorry. We swept the Rockies at home and got our first series sweep since May. (yay) If saving face and seeing our young talent perform well (Blanco, Escobar, Jurrjens) means anything to you then there [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Hey, pretty soon we’ll never have to see Shea Stadium ever again game thread: Sept. 13, Braves at Metronomes

Oh, great, the Mets game thread: Sept. 12, Braves at Metropolitans

I’ve decided that Jeff Francoeur is so bad that he doesn’t deserve to be named after a major country. Yes, his play is actually insulting to France. I’m thinking Luxemcoeur, or possibly Slovenicoeur.

Game 147

Sure, not that I all but give up on this team, I comment to a friend that we are rapidly catching the nats for the cellar, that management has given up we go on a winning streak. If only this could have happened back before we gutted this team for a bunch of mediocre players.

Personally I dream about the end of this season game thread: Sept. 11, Rockies at Braves

Braves Win Two in Row Behind King Kelly’s Bat

These guys are the defending NL champs? How do we keep beating them? I just got to say it right away. How about Kelly Johnson? He’s hitting like we’re in the midst of a play off push with his absolutely outstanding September. Dude is hitting .486, 2 HR, 6 2B’s, 12 RBI, .525 OBP, .919 SLG [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Game 146

Who is this team and what have the done with the 2008 Atlanta Braves? I don’t know quite what to make of this, yesterday and extra inning win today a come from behind after the pen blows it win. Its almost like they care?

This sure is a long string they’re playing out game thread: Sept. 10, Rockies at Braves

Warning, bad video!

Game 145

Well, it was just a few days ago that I stated one of the constants of the universe what the Braves not winning in extras, and then they had to go and prove me wrong. Of course, the Braves didn’t so much win as the other team lost. Seriously, balking in the winning run in the 10th?

Baseball Marketing-The Loyalty Factor

Since the strike of 1994 and the disillusionment fans experienced, MLB has been coming up with all kinds of wonderful marketing ideas to draw crowds back to the National Pastime. Interleague play, extended playoffs, and “This time they count” All Star games come to mind. Thanks to commissioner Bud Selig, we’ve seen some additions to the [...] Read the rest of this entry »

So tired game thread: Sept. 9, Rockies at Braves

I think I shall take a nap.

Game 144

A few recaps ago Ben posted one of the world constants in this universe was the Braves losing one run games on the road. I think we have found another. The Braves losing in extras.

Game 143

I hate to say this, but I am really tired of writing recaps for losses. When I first decided to write these recaps, I said to myself, “I will keep these positive, I will focus on the good.” I haven’t been able to hold myself to that, this season has just been too disappointing.

Game 142

Braves win two games in a row. I hardly believed that would happen again this season. Then again, we are playing one of the few teams in baseball with a worse record that us (for the moment).

At least we don’t have to play these guys anymore.

The Braves ended their season of playing the Nationals the same way they started… losing. We can’t hold onto a lead. We can’t get a series win at home. And we just couldn’t beat the Nationals this year. Jo Jo had a decent day going 6 innings and allowing one run. But then the bullpen came it [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Braves Get Win for Jurrjen in Attempt to Save Face

The Braves hit back hard at the Nationals for 10 runs and secured the series win. Along with not completely embarrassing ourselves in front of the home crowd again while playing the Nats, it gives Jurrjens his first victory since August 9th! Jair only lasted five innings while struggled with his control allowing 6 hits and [...] Read the rest of this entry »

What’s true is that we suck game thread: Sept. 5, Nats at Braves

A four-game series between the Nats and the Braves, in Atlanta, in August? Who says Limbo doesn’t exist?

Parr Debuts and Wins

~JB-Atlanta, GA It was good, but it may not be exactly a testament to Parr’s greatness just yet. Even though the Nationals have dominated us like Alexander the Great this year a win over DC is nice, let’s not forget that they’re a last place team. And a scoreless debut, albeit a good one, doesn’t mean the hope [...] Read the rest of this entry »
