Fan Depreciation Day Game thread: Sept. 21, Mets at Braves

Atlanta, you will never again be subjected to the 2008 Atlanta Braves! Congratulations! Of course, you still have the Falcons…

Game 155

It feels good to play the role of spoiler. OK, it doesn’t, but its all we’ve got, so we might as well relish it. We have pretty much owned the mets at Turner Field this year, and tonight, it appears, we were able to take them out of first place.

I just want the Braves to know game thread: Sept. 20, Mets at Braves

I only insult you and come up with demeaning nicknames because I care. Admittedly, I don’t care that much at this point.

Off to See the Yellow Jackets

The Braves didn’t help the Phillies any further as they had all year long by dropping the series opener to the Mets last night. Before I talk any more about the Braves, let me announce my plans for today… I’m going to see my Ramblin’ Wreck take on Mississippi State for the first time since 1929 [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Game 154

After working so hard, getting swept by the phils, keeping the mets out of first place. Now we had a chance to keep the mets out of first, by WINNING and we couldn’t do it.

Not really paying attention game thread: Sept. 19, Mets at Braves

It is the Mets, right? [Checks] Yeah, the Mets. SEC picks, home teams in Italics

Braves Lose…I Hate The Phillies

Just when I thought we could maybe end this thing on a high note. Some conclusions I’ve reached after this week’s series with this Phillies. 1) I hate the Phillies more than I’ll ever hate the Mets right now. Of course that will change if we could start beating them again. We have to start 2009 on [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Game 153

Another day, another lose at home to the phils. The phils beat the braves every game the played at Turner Field. No one has swept the Braves at home since 1909. But, that is just the way this season has been going.

They just don’t care game thread: Sept. 18, Phillies at Braves

Well, it’s not like I care a whole lot either.

2009 Outlooks

MLBTR has posted their 2009 Offseason Outlook on the Braves. While it’s not too in depth, it does cover the basics and the needs we will be looking to fill this off season. It’s kind of like stepping into Frank Wren’s shoes for a moment and looking toward next season’s possibilities.

Game 152

Pretty disappointing game all around. Jurrjens wasn’t so good. The pen didn’t do well. The bats were absent. Well, once again, we can take solace in the fact we kept the mets out of first place!

Game 151

This was kind of a good news / bad news game. On the “bad news” we lost, our pen failed to hold the lead, twice and Parr gave up his first runs. On the good news side, at least we lost to the team who is in the process of catching the mets (again).

Grading a Player’s Real Value

When Mark Teixeira was shipped off before the end of the trade deadline and we picked up Casey Kotchman, we got a significant down grade in first basemen. Or did we? Tex is in a class of his own. He’s a much more accomplished player will demand and get big bucks this winter. He’s got much [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Make up your own joke game thread: Sept. 17, Phillies at Braves

I have nothing.

Getting a headstart much?

First off, something that my friend directed to my attention, the 2009 Projected Roster from SoxProspects.com. See image below.

Down on The Farm

So it’s mid-inning in the 11th at Trustmark Park in Pearl, MS, when the anthem “Load Up the Bases” in its entirety is played. “Kind of a long break,” I’m thinking, and “Bad luck.” The song has haunted my summer, as I rush to mute the sound on the A-Braves commercials, during yet another abysmal game. Two weeks to go game thread: Sept. 16, Phillies at Braves

No, we certainly won’t lie down and let the Phillies win! That would be wrong! Also, we don’t have to, we legitimately can’t beat them! Really, if the Phillies do make the playoffs, they ought to give the Braves a share. KJ at least.

Norton, Braves Close Out Shea on a High Note

I don’t care about a postseason sit out right now. Yesterday’s win at Shea Stadium was just… nice. The Braves made their final visit to Shea a disappointment for Mets fans and somewhat inspirational for us watching in Atlanta. After sweeping the Rockies at home and then winning 2 of 3 in Flushing, the Bravos looked [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Game 150

If only we had played this well when we were in the hunt. This season may have gone differently. But, hopefully, we will play a small role in spoiling the mets.

Braves Say Goodbye to Shea

So you think Red Sox vs Yankees is good? Or maybe you bore with indignity all the talk of the last Red Sox vs Yankees series in Yankee Stadium? Well perhaps our rivalry doesn’t have Bucky Dent, Aaron Boone, Curses and 3-0 comebacks but I think it’s just as good if not better. And for [...] Read the rest of this entry »

I’m sure in a couple of years the new place will smell just like Shea game thread: Sept. 14, Braves at Metrosexuals

Goodbye, Shea. It’s been a horror. Can’t wait to watch you get imploded.

Games 148 & 149

The Braves showed some signs of life in the first game, only to be totally shut down in the second. Who would have thought we’d beat the great Jose Santana, but get blanked by a pitcher with an ERA of 15? But, I guess that is the way it goes sometimes.
