Off day seems much-needed.

So today is a much-needed off day for our struggling Braves. I’m not sure that having an off day will do much of anything, but what could it hurt? Like the Braves play lately, I’ve been lazy and unenthusiastic about posting, mainly because I didn’t really want to focus on how bad things have become. So I won’t. I’ll make this a “good” post.

Game 131

What else can be said about this team? They just don’t seem to care anymore and appear to just be going through the motions. I can not ever remember seeing the Braves doing this.

Game 130

We are behind on these recaps, but not down. The middle game of the series against the Cardinals was a blessing, because it was the first win this team has seen in too long.

Game 129

There’s losing, and then there’s losing. Friday night’s opener against the Cardinals was definitely the latter. The Braves got absolutely pummeled, losing by their largest margin of the season, and suffering their sixth loss in a row. Change needs to happen, now, or football season needs to start very soon.

The Circle Of Life

~JB- Atlanta, GA You’re probably humming that song in your head right now with visions of Simba hoisted up in the air. In your mind’s eye maybe you’re already annoyed by the sight of zebras, giraffes, and cartoon elephants. Maybe you’re even hearing those unpronounceable words chanted like a mantra to a song you know nothing [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Can’t we just forfeit? game thread: Aug. 23, Richmond at St. Louis

Where Did It All Go Wrong?

~JB- Atlanta, GA My friend Steve over at House of Braves Talk likes to cite the Kelly Johnson dropped pop up in the Phillies series of where it all began to unravel.  Just to bring you back for a moment. It was 2-1 in the ninth. We were about to move to with 2 1/2 games out [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Too depressing game thread: Aug. 20, Braves at Mets

Sigh.

Anyway, I’m looking for writeups for the SEC Previews site. Smitty’s UT preview is now up. I’ll do Alabama, of course, and Georgia is spoken for. Email me if you’re interested.

Game 126

Once again the starter gives us a good outing, once again the pen lets us down (is this starting to sound like a broken record?). I really hope something is done to address this problem (along with the hitting, and the pitching coach, and the injuries)… We thought we had but the injuries just crushed our pen.

Braves Re-Sign Andruw Jones

~JB Atlanta, GA  In a stunning move, the Braves took one more chance on a centerfield slugger who’s having less than what many would call a career year.    “We have a lot of options at centerfield for 2009″ said Frank Wren “but to us, no one could replace what Andruw brings back to this Braves lineup. We [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Game 125

Sometimes it’s hard to understand this team. On Monday afternoon, a game in which had the dumbest start time, the Braves got their asses handed to them by the pitcher who has the most losses in the Major League, Barry Zito. This second loss in a row to a team with a worse record was a fitting end to wrap up the homestand, which had the lackluster record of 1 -7.

10 Signs that You Might Be a Braves Fan

So this is a variation of a post I did earlier in the year. I hope you’ll forgive me but I edited it significantly and wanted to re-release it. Enjoy! Remaining Braves to Have Season Ending Surgeries

~JB, Atlanta, GA In an unexpected move, Bobby Cox announced Monday morning that the remaining players on the Braves’ active roster will undergo season ending surgery starting this weekend and replaced with the best players he can find in the minor leagues.  “This was a tough decision to come by” said Cox “since Frank [Wren] and I [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Game 124

Luckily [?], I had to miss most of this game to stain a fence. The good news is the fence looks great and it was such a pleasant evening tonight. The bad news is that it wasn’t such a pleasant day for the Braves. For whatever reason, this team consistently gets beaten up by the seemingly inferior Giants. Tim Lincecum put the hurt on Atlanta, again, and recorded his 13th win of the season.
