Yet another game thread: DBacks at Braves, May 25
I don’t really have anything to say today. Here’s a video.

Going into the bottom of the ninth, I thought to myself, we better win it here because we never win in extras. Thankfully, Frenchy agreed. This was a “classic” Braves game, the pitching was outstanding, the hitting was just (barely) enough.

Read the rest of this entry »Last night was not a very good outing by Jo-Jo, which further seems to prove he needs more time in the minors… or something. Not only did we have terrible pitching, our offense only had six hits and left six men on base, which is why we only scored one run. I think after the first inning everyone could have gone home because it was fairly pointless to keep playing, but I don’t make the rules.
Read the rest of this entry »Well, that four game sweep of the mets was sure nice, wasn’t it? Not a whole lot to talk this game, nothing good at least. We didn’t really hit, we totally pitch, we didn’t field. Hell, what exactly did we do right? Oh, Chipper raised his average, I guess that is a plus.

Four game sweep of the Mets. Four Game Sweep of the Mets! FOUR GAME SWEEP OF THE METS!! Glad I got that off my chest. While I do my best not to “hate” other teams, I have to admit I enjoy it a little more when we beat the Mets. The arrogance some of of their players has really turned me off. It was an incredible series for the Braves, we really couldn’t have asked for them to do any more, our pitchers were amazing for this series, starters and pen, the bats were solid, and the hustle! The Braves played like they WANTED to win, not just hoped.

Read the rest of this entry »Tonight we go for the sweep of the Mets. Tim Hudson will face Johan Santana in the last game of the series in what looks like to be a good game. I hope we keep hitting like we have been and knock Santana out of the game like we have the rest of the Mets starters. I’m sure it won’t be as easy as it sounds, but there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to do it with the way we’re playing right now. Infante wasn’t that bad of a fill-in for Escobar, but we would have a better chance of winning with Escobar back in the lineup. Chipper is questionable as well, but more likely to play than Escobar. Who knows if either will actually play tonight or not. Either way, let’s keep it going.
There is no better team at home than the Braves, period. Tonight, everything was working, everything. Jurrjens looked great, the bats were on a tear, the Braves could just do no wrong, in the process handing the Mets another embarrassing loss. With this win, the Braves climb to four games over .500 and hold on to second place in the division.

It’s nice we cut down our lead in the standings, but we still have two more games to play before this series ends. As we saw yesterday, Braves hitters acted like they actually had a clue at the plate with the timely hitting and smart baseball that they played. Where has this team been all year long? Patience is key at the plate. Yesterday proves that we are a much better hitting team when we don’t resort to flailing at every first pitch and are patient enough to work the count to tire the opposing pitcher. Plus it seems Teixshy and KJ have figured something out, which can only mean good things to come if they keep at it.

Read the rest of this entry »I would love to be a fly on the wall in the mets locker room tonight (minus the Church injury). I’ve been reading the mets are on the brink of implosion and a day like today can’t help. The Braves hadn’t swept a double header since 2003, and then to take both games here, in such embarrassing fashion (from the mets perspective), it has got to sting.
Read the rest of this entry »The Brave got back to a little ABC baseball today. Until the seventh, all the runs were driven in by singles and sac flies. Throw in a bunt and a couple productive outs, great pitching, and you’ve got a nice Braves win. While sitting around waiting for the three run home run is nice, it’s good to know when it doesn’t happen, the Braves can still score runs.

Who drove all the tabloid writers silly.
But what’s really funny
Is that with all their money
The Mets finished after Atlanta and Philly.
The next two series coming up are against the Mets, who are still playing well, and the Diamondbacks, who have the best record in baseball thus far. The longest homestand of the season continues with a doubleheader tomorrow against another of our division rivals in the Mets. We shall see what happens as anything is possible in this game.

I don’t want to write a joke here. Anyway, this here (thanks to Braves14) is pretty great:
Maybe, just maybe, we are starting to get a little stability in our starting rotation. Jurrjens has been nothing by reliable, Jojo may be starting to believe he belongs here. Huddy, Glavine are doing well on the front end. But, the big surprise has got to be the pen. They got off to a shaky start, but have unhitable lately. If only Tex would do SOMETHING, maybe we could get on a little winning streak, the pitchers are giving us a chance to win almost every game.
Read the rest of this entry »Okay, probably not. But I don’t like it. Oh, and it’s a day game after a night game, so McCann probably won’t play, which is not promising.
Read the rest of this entry »No come-from-behind win tonight, in fact, no win at all. This A’s pitcher we faced, when healthy, can be fantastic, and tonight, he was. He pretty much dominated us, but then, so did their pen. We just never really got going, until it was too late.
